Types of Digital Hearing Aids

Thursday, December 14, 2006

Digital Hearing Aids are the result of recent technological advancements to improve the experience of those suffering from hearing loss. In the past, Hearing Aids were worn in the ear, in the hearing canal or behind the ear, but today Completely In The Canal (CIC) digital hearing aids are available.

Completely in the canal hearing aids are custom made and are worn deeper in the ear canal than "in-the-canal" types. They become almost invisible and less amplification is required than other types.

Behind the ear digital hearing aids continue to outsell all other hearing instruments world wide, they're more reliable and offer fitting flexibility.

Before deciding to get a Completely In The Canal hearing aid, you might consider some reasons why you might not be a good candidate for this. Do you produce excessive amounts of ear wax?, have small or straight ear canals? Have a hearing loss of over 80db, have poor manual dexterity or are unable to afford a lot of money for digital hearing aid batteries?

Speak with your health professional before making any final decisions on the type of digital hearing aid you'd like.

Digital hearing aids take advantage of new digital technology, with most users reporting very good results. Digital hearing aids take the sound, convert it into bits, and make necessary changes before amplifying the signal so that you can hear it better. Thanks.
